International Organization for Migration (IOM) is an intergovernmental organization established in 1951. The IOM now counts 149 member states, including Poland since 1992.

IOM works to manage migration for the benefit of migrants and societies.


IOM supports countries in meeting the operational and socio-economic challenges related to migration, helps migrants and protects their rights.


IOM is currently implementing more than 2,000 projects around the globe.


IOM has been working on the Polish territory since 2002. The organization carries out projects centered around assistance in voluntary return and reintegration, combating illegal migration and fighting against trafficking in human beings, projects supporting the integration of immigrants, and health-related and research projects.

IOM offices on all continents support governments and civil society in the following areas:
• migration and development
• migration support
• migration regulation
• forced migration.
