Loss of Polish citizenshipPrint

The Constitution of the Republic of Poland clearly specifies that the only way to lose Polish citizenship is to renounce it. The State cannot revoke anyone's citizenship. A Polish citizen may lose Polish citizenship only at his own request, after obtaining the consent of the President to renunciation of Polish citizenship.

A request for consent to renunciation of Polish citizenship shall be submitted in person or by mail via a Voivode or consul.  Addresses of Voivodeship Offices and of the consular departments of the Republic of Poland are available here:

The loss of Polish citizenship occurs 30 days after the date of the decision of the President of the Republic of Poland, unless the President indicates a shorter time in his decision.
