Education

The education sytem in Poland

 

The education system in is organized as follows:

  •  Kindergarten – usually, for 3 to 6 years olds.
  • Elementary school – 6 grades
  • Middle school - 3 grades
  • Post-Middle school education - 

After completing middle schools, students choose one of the following types of school:

    • High school – 3 grades
    • High school with professional major – 3 grades
    • Technical high school – 4 grades
    • Vocational school – 2 to 3 grade.

Schools at the post-middle school level end with a cumulative exam, except the vocational school. Students who pass the cumulative exam receive the maturity certificate – a prerequisite to continue higher education. Graduates of the vocational school can continue their education in a 2-year additional high school or a 3-year additional technical high school, in order to complete requirements necessary to take the cumulative exam. When they pass the exam, they also receive the maturity certificate which will allow them to peruse higher education.   

 

  • Post-High School education (not synonymous with Higher Education)

     

 

Daycare

 

Daycare is available for younger children from 6 weeks old to 3 years old. In , daycare facilities hold a legal status of health care facilities. A child can attend either a public or privately own daycare.  Cost of daycare varies between facilities but, contrary to school education, it is never included in healthcare benefits.
