Celebrating holidaysPrint

In Poland, public holidays and national holidays are days legally free from work. Some Catholic holidays are recognized by law and are free from work as well. People of other faiths whose religious holidays do not coincide with non-working days may take a day off at their own request. However, the employee must make up for this day by working on another day.

The employee should submit a request at least 7 days in advance. The employer must notify the employee of the terms of making up this holiday no later than 3 days prior to the day itself.

If the employee wishes to have a day off on a specific day each week, it is also possible to introduce individual working time arrangements.

Usually, wages for the month in which the employee took the day off remain unchanged, as the day to make up for the holiday is set in the same month.
